Sunday Jul 13, 2014
Sunday Jul 13, 2014
Israel saw themselves as a basket of ripe fruit - a beautiful picture of wealth, health, and prosperity. But when God looked at them, He did not see a basket of ripe fruit but a people who were ripe for judgment. And in the midst of the land was a famine of the hearing of the Word; people were thirsty but would not hear. If they would only turn to the Word of the Lord - for after all, He says, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again."

Amos warns the people of Israel of the coming day of the Lord for which the Israelites longed for. They longed for it thinking that God would overlook their sin, rebellion, and empty worship. The Church in a Strange World (Amos 3:1-15)
Sunday May 18, 2014
Sunday May 18, 2014
Through Amos, the Lord speaks to Israel who lived in such a way that it was hard to tell the difference between the people of God and the pagan nations that live around them. Often, and sadly, the same seems to be true today; there seems to be little difference between the church and the world around us. We learn from Amos that which Peter also declares, judgment begins with the household of God. But we also see the hope, the hope in the Lord Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the Sheep, and that those who trust in Him WILL be saved.
