Once again God encourages His people by reminding Daniel that God is always at work behind the scenes of history working out His plan for His glory and the good of His people.  

In the midst of an often backward world, come hear of the One who has made, is making, and will make all things straight. Daniel points to the person and work of the Lord Jesus as the answer to his prayer for mercy and restoration.

In the midst of extraordinary visions of extraordinary realities, it is often simple faithfulness in the ordinary things of life to which we are called. Faithfulness in the normal, ordinary, and sometimes monotonous things of life is that which is radical.

God encourages Daniel in the midst of a kingdom not his own. How will God accomplish getting Daniel and His people into a kingdom that is their own? God's answer? Through the Son of Man, the Lord Jesus, the One who reigns.

Daniel continues to give historical evidence of the reality of His who reveals, rescues, and rules preparing his readers for the apocalypic section of his book that communicates the same!  Here he does so through that familiar story of "Daniel and...God's Den."  

Daniel reminds his original audience and those today that regardless of what's going on in the world, God reigns and is in control. What a comfort to the people of God.

Having been shown to be the God who Reveals in Daniel 2, the God who Rescues in Daniel 3, here in Daniel 4, God is shown to be the God who Rules.  

Nebuchadnezzar's image he made, the furnace he fired, and the rescue he witnessed lead us to the One true God who delivers.  

While Daniel wrote to the people of God some 500 years before Christ, his message as an exile to exiles living in a foreign land is just as relevant today. How does the church sing the Lord's song while living in a land not their own? Because His Kingdom will stand forever.
