Hope in Suffering (1 Peter 5:6-14)

In the conclusion to Peter's first letter, he summarizes the wonderful theme - stand firm in the grace of God.  

Shepherds, Sheep, and the Chief Shepherd

With the background of the rebellious shepherds from Israel's past, Peter teaches the church the proper roles for the undershepherds of the church and the flock of God, while reminding us of the wonder of our Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rejoice in Suffering? (1 Peter 4:12-19)

Peter instructs the church in dealing with the suffering that believers should expect in following Jesus.  

Gifts and Graces (1 Peter 4:7-11)

Peter encourages and instructs the church in living in view of the end of all things being at hand.  With the reality of the death and resurrection of Jesus behind us and His return in front of us, that should inform the way we live today.

In this passage of Scripture, Peter tells us "Why the Gospel is Preached."  

Glory through Suffering (1 Peter 3:13-22)

This difficult passage of Scripture is made less difficult in the context of Peter's purpose - to encourage a struggling church in the midst of  world that is often in opposition to the things of the Lord.  

The Eyes of the Lord (1 Peter 3:8-12)

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous - is that scary or is that comforting?  Peter says it as a comfort for those in Jesus - for in Him, they are righteous.  

Honoring Women (1 Peter 3:7-9)

Peter exhorts the men in the church to live with their wives in an understanding manner.
