In introduction to this wonderful Book of Amos, we take a look at the "Not-so-famous" Amos, the culture to which he spoke, and the Lion of whom He spoke.

The Lord Jesus conquers death and sin by rising from the dead - giving life to all those who trust in Him.

As we reverently meditate on the death of the Lord Jesus, Mark focuses our hearts and minds on the shame of it all....

While Jesus stands firm in perfect obedience even unto death, His followers deny him before a servant girl.  The strength of the King is contrasted with the weakness of His subjects.  

In the face of the disciples' bold promises and colossal failures, Jesus shows Himself faithful, boldly fulfilling promises that had been made long ago.  

Jesus has the Last Supper with His disciples radically transforming the Passover to the Lord's Supper.  

In this passage of Scripture, many were seeking Jesus.  The Scribes and Chief Priests were seeking Jesus to kill Him and Judas was seeking to betray Him. The story of a woman who was seeking to worship Him was sandwiched in the middle.  She anointed Jesus with expensive perfume.  Jesus is worth it. 

Jesus teaches the disciples (and us) how to live in light of His coming.  

The Olivet Discourse found in Mark 13 is a difficult passage of Scripture.  But Jesus gives practical advice for the people of God as they live in light of two great redemptive events - the destruction of Jerusalem and the Second Coming of Christ.  In the first 23 verses, Jesus' emphasis is on the destruction of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple.  

Jesus exposes the Scribes' simplistic understanding of His nature and the nature of His kingdom and shows the profound reality of both.
