Creation: From the 1st Adam to the 2nd (Romans 5:9-21)

It is important what we believe about the historicity of Adam only if it's important what we believe about the historicity of Christ - and, of course, that is of ultimate importance.  

Doctrine Matters (Jude 1-25)

Doctrine matters because Jesus matters - what we believe about Jesus has eternal consequences - what we believe about Jesus impacts how we live life.  This isn’t just a matter of the head - it’s a matter of the heart - my prayer is that through this series, those who hear will know more of the Lord and more of His Word. The more we know of Him, the more we long for Him, the more we know the faith once for all passed down, the more that faith matters.  And the more we know Jesus and the faith, the more we long to live in a manner worthy of our calling.  In this wonderful letter from Jude, I  emphasize three things as an introduction to this series:  Contending for the Faith, Dangers and Enemies of the Faith, and Strengthening the Faith.

Ensnared in Your Own Trap (Mark 12:13-27)

Pharisees, Herodians, and Sadducees attempt to ensnare Jesus in a trap using taxes and a ruse regarding the resurrection.  But Jesus turns them both around revealing their hearts and hypocrisy.  

The Rejected Stone (Mark 12:1-12)

Jesus tells the parable of the Tenants to the scribes, chief priests, and elders charging them with rejecting the Christ proclaimed by the prophets and rejecting Christ Himself.  

Going to Temple (Mark 11:12-33)

On Monday of Passion Week, Jesus enters Jerusalem again, cursing a fig tree on the way and cleansing the temple once he's there.  On Tuesday, he returns again and this time he gives lessons in regards to his lordship from the fig tree and the cleansing.  

Coming to Jerusalem (Mark 11:1-10)

The time has come for the entrance of the King into Jerusalem.  Jesus' face has been set toward Jerusalem - toward that for which He was sent - to give His life a ransom for many, to bring the forgiveness of sin.  The long awaited Messiah has come.

The Seeing Blind Man (Mark 10:46-52)

Mark presents Bartimaeus (the blind beggar) as a foil to the rich, young ruler - a blind beggar that our gracious Savior calls to follow Him.

What Kind of Question is That? (Mark 10:32-45)

As we install newly elected elders and deacons at Trinity Grace Church, this text serves well to remind us of the Gospel of Christ and that to which we've been called.  We look up to the exalted Christ and He bears fruit in our hearts and lives leading us to look out to others.

The Poor Rich Man, Part 2 (Mark 10:17-31)

In the second part of this passage of the rich, young ruler, after our self-righteousness and our idols have been exposed, our wonderful Savior and our blessings in Him are now exposed.
