A Letter of Hope (1 Peter 1.1-3)

Peter packs a punch in his introduction to this letter of hope.  It's an introduction in which he speaks much of God, His chosen people, and the relationship between the two.  It's an introduction of hope to a great letter of hope.

Jesus has reconciled us by taking our sin upon himself and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.  

A Weight Lifted (Psalm 32)

 In Psalm 51 David cries out to the Lord for forgiveness.  In Psalm 32, he rejoices in that forgiveness.  

Idols in the Way (James 4:1-10)

James, in writing to Jewish Christians scattered abroad, teaches that those things we often chase in our flesh hoping to find fulfillment, don't end there but end in emptiness.  We too often pursue what our flesh wants, but God, in His grace, and by His grace, gives us what we need.

In Whom? (Colossians 1:19-23)

To live in light of the gospel we must understand the gospel first.  Jesus brought peace by the blood of His cross and we live in light of that peace. 

Living in Light of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 10:31-33)

Our twofold aim in life is given to us in the Scripture - Christians are called to be God-glorifiers and people-pleasers.  Paul says to this end, "imitate me, even as he imitates Christ."
