Peter encourages the churches to whom he writes by pointing them to that great inheritance that awaits those who are Christ's - an inheritance that will not perish, spoil, or fade.

Peter packs a punch in his introduction to this letter of hope.  It's an introduction in which he speaks much of God, His chosen people, and the relationship between the two.  It's an introduction of hope to a great letter of hope.
