Bitter waters are made sweet by the sweet Savior of a bitter people.  

God delivers the Israelites from their bondage in Egypt and their response is to break into a song with God as it's object and subject.  This message answers the question, "Why do we sing?"  It also asks the question, "When He's the subject of the song, who can refuse to sing?"

Once again God displays His power and authority over all things and rescues His people when they cannot rescue themselves.  

We are the redeemed.  In saying so, we acknowledge that we are not our own, but we have been bought with a price.  We belong to another - to the One who bought us, the One who saved us, the One who redeemed us, the One who has given us an inheritance, the One who has loved us.  

The Exodus of Israel from Egypt is a shadow of the redemption accomplished by Christ in His life, death, and resurrection.  Just as the Lord makes a mockery of His enemies in Egypt, He does so again in the resurrection.  

In the last of the plagues, God ultimately secures the deliverance of the Israelites from Egyptian captivity.  And yet, the Passover points to something greater, the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.

God's sovereignty is displayed as He makes a distinction between the people of Egypt and His own.  God's judgment and grace are manifest in the death of the first-born.  

These nine plagues in Egypt display the power of the One true God as He mocks the false gods of Egypt.  But the heart of Pharoah is hard as he refuses to see what is clearly before him.  

A turning point occurs in Exodus 7:8-13 and the stage is set for the next 5 chapters in which God displays his sovereignty before Pharaoh, Egypt and Israel. (We apologize...A minute was missed at the 27:15 mark, and the volume become an issue for the last 10 minutes or so.)

The Author of the Story Himself gives us the "Who," "What," "Why," and "When" demonstrating that the Lord holds the hearts of even pharaohs and kings in His hand.
