To the Glory of God and for the Good of the People (1 Corinthians 10:23-33)

In the context of food sacrificed to idols, Paul calls the church to a life that brings glory to God and good for people.

Flee from Idolatry (1 Corinthians 10:1-22)

By God’s grace we are enabled more and more to flee from our idolatry and flee to Christ. And one of the means of grace he provides that enables us to flee is the Lord’s Table.

For the Sake of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 9)

Paul sets an example for the church in Corinth, and the church today, to follow. Because we have all we need in Christ, we are free to give up our rights for the sake of others and for the sake of the gospel.  

Free to Love (1Corinthians 8:1-13)

We have freedom in Christ Jesus and are called to use our freedom for the sake of others; to love them and to serve them.  

Live as Called (1 Corinthians 7:17-40)

Our circumstances do not dictate our commitment to the Word of God. We are called to live in a manner worthy of our calling in whatever situation we find ourselves.  

Marriages Under the Cross of Christ (1 Corinthians 7:1-16)

The Word of God touches even the most intimate aspects of our life - even our bodies.  But to trust the Word of God is to believe that God knows what's best for us and that there are blessings that come with obeying His Word.  

Bought With a Price (1 Corinthians 6:12-20)

Christian slogans can be helpful but can also lack a theological fullness leading to confusion.  The Corinthians' slogan "all things are lawful for me" led to confusion concerning their freedom in Christ mistaken for a license to sin.  

Living in Light of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 6:1-11)

The grievances within the church at Corinth dishonored the name of the Lord.  It was much bigger than just lawsuits and grievances; these revealed a failure to living in light of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Discipline for the Sake of Christ (I Corinthians 5:1-13)

Paul addresses the arrogance of the Church at Corinth and admonishes the church to remove a sexually immoral man for the sake of the man himself, for the sake of the church, and ultimately, for the sake of Christ.
