We continue our study through the pastoral epistles and this morning we begin 2 Timothy.  In chapter 1, Paul encourages young Timothy, and all christians everywhere, that our Savior can be trusted.

Paul encourages Timothy that the way to recognize a counterfeit is not to study or spend time on the counterfeits, but to know the truth of the Word of God.  

Paul instructs Timothy on life within the household of God - particularly here with elders and deacons.  

Sometimes we think to ourselves, "if God would just write in on the wall, then I'd know..."  But the truth is, when He has written it plainly and clearly, we still struggle with believing and obeying His Word.  

We begin our series of the Pastoral Epistles with 1 Timothy 1.  Paul addresses those teachers who are mishandling the Word of God.  A love for God and a love for neighbor flows from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith.
